EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT

The Egg Harbor Township School District is located in Atlantic County. With approximately 7,500 pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade students, Egg Harbor Township is the largest school district in Atlantic County. There are three pre-K to 3rd grade school complexes, one 4th to 5th grade school, two 6th to 8th grade schools, and one 9th to 12th grade school in our district. All of our students are provided the opportunity to reach their fullest potential through a wide range of academic, athletic, and extra-curricular programs.

Our mission in the Egg Harbor Township School District is to partner with the student, family, school, and community to provide a safe learning environment that addresses rigorous and relevant 21st Century standards and best practices which will develop academic scholarship, integrity, leadership, citizenship, and the unique learning style of students, while encouraging them to develop a strong work ethic and to act responsibly in their school community and every day society. To this end, our goals for the 2016-2017 school year are designed to support our mission and align our programs with current state mandates regarding curriculum and teacher/administrator evaluations.

This year, our English Language Arts and Mathematics curriculum in kindergarten through twelfth grades will be aligned to the New Jersey Common Core Standards. Doing so will keep us compliant with State mandates and better prepare our students to be college and career ready upon graduation. We are continuing to develop the expansion of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) in our elementary and secondary programs. Furthermore, students continue to benefit from the opportunities offered through the Medical and Science Academy (MSA), the Academy of Law and Business (ALAB), and the Communications Academy (CA) in our High School. Finally, to meet the overarching goal of improving teacher proficiency, thus improving student academic achievement, the district continues to implement the required teacher/administrator evaluation process and instrument, which also satisfies the state mandate of greater accountability. Additionally, the district is implementing walk-throughs in all classrooms to better assess our curricular programs.
