The Maywood Public Schools provide students with a challenging learning environment by preparing them to be responsible, successful, ethical members of society through an environment that fosters the unique potential of each child and nurtures a respect and appreciation for the individuality of all students. The Board of Education strongly upholds the expectation that all students will achieve the goals as set forth in the New Jersey Standards of Student Learning, the NGSS and Common Core Standards at all grade levels and that our staff of professionals will be dedicated to these standards and the New Jersey Standards for Professional Development. The NJSLS, NGSS & Common Core Standards are addressed through programs of academic excellence that blend traditional and innovative teaching strategies, the differentiation of instruction, and the incorporation of technology. Collectively we strive to enable all of our students to become life-long learners, critical thinkers, effective communicators, and wise decision-makers while being prepared to succeed in an information age characterized by constant change.

Recognizing that excellent teachers are the foundation by which our children reach their potential and fulfill their lifelong aspirations, the Maywood School District will continue to support professional development opportunities for its faculty, staff, and administrators including the home grown Maywood Teacher Academy and a partnership with the Northern Valley Consortium of Schools, the Region 5 Consortium of Schools and the Montclair State University Clinical Faculty Program. It is our belief that by keeping abreast of the latest innovations and effective educational practices and approaches to learning, our district can continue to be recognized for its high standards of excellence and proven record of achievements.

The District’s commitment to technology is obvious and far reaching. The District engaged in a technology infrastructure enhancement including Wi-Fi accessibility at both schools, increase in overall bandwidth and the outfitting of district classrooms with smartboards while maintaining its commitment to chromebooks at each school. The district utilizes its own website and all staff are training and hence infuse the google classroom paradigm into their everyday instructional practices.

As we look ahead to our future, the Maywood School District will continue to support the following goals: maintain a budget that is fiscally responsible, review, update and implement all curricular areas to ensure alignment with the Core Curriculum Content Standards; support efforts to expand educational technology; and promote differentiated instructional strategies that effectively meet the needs of a diverse student population.

The Maywood School District (Memorial School & Maywood Avenue School) is proud of its schools and community and invites and encourages parent involvement to support our efforts. As Superintendent of Schools, I am available through email at or via telephone at 201-201-845-9114.
