Bordentown Regional School District

Bordentown Regional School District is a vibrant learning community, proudly serving the communities of Fieldsboro, Bordentown City and Bordentown Township. Our students engage in meaningful learning, contribute to their communities, and represent themselves, their schools and our district with distinction. Bordentown’s elementary schools, Clara Barton and Peter Muschal, serve students from pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Students in grades 4 and 5 attend MacFarland Intermediate School, while 6th, 7th and 8th graders attend Bordentown Regional Middle School. In addition to the three aforementioned communities, Bordentown Regional High School also welcomes students from New Hanover into its ninth-twelfth grade population. Each school has a unique culture, and our principals, teachers and staff members welcome community members’ active participation in this educational process.

Bordentown Regional’s instructional programs require students to apply their knowledge, build critical thinking skills, utilize technology, solve problems, communicate effectively, and develop an understanding of their roles in an increasingly global society. In many facets of our school programs, the rich traditions of Bordentown’s history are taught, honored, and recognized. While exploring an array of academic interests, Bordentown students also have rich opportunities to become involved in fine and performing arts, while intramural and interscholastic athletics additionally are offered to secondary students. Our students’ preparation for success commences as they begin their academic journey in our full day kindergarten program.

The district’s curriculum is aligned with the standards while refining and improving the breadth and quality of students’ learning opportunities are ongoing pursuits. Across our district, each student’s learning is guided by teachers, staff and administrators who are committed to preparing students for post-secondary success and to ensuring that each is ready to enter college or career upon high school graduation. Toward this goal, teachers, staff and administrators are members of Professional Learning Communities, where engagement in reflective practice, assessment of student learning outcomes, and currency with best practice research lead to new and innovative practices to advance student achievement.

Our district’s commitment to excellence for our students further is evidenced by numerous initiatives underway for the 2016-2017 academic year. In our elementary schools, students focus on literacy development through the continued implementation of Writer’s and Reader’s Workshops. Additionally, our K-5 teachers are exploring new resources in mathematics as the district begins a review of the elementary math program. The middle school bridges the social and academic gap between elementary and high school by continuing to refine assessment practices and experimenting with instructional strategies that engage all learners through the use of technology.
At the high school level, an unprecedented number of students have taken the PSATs, a key assessment in preparation for SAT and ACT participation. An increasing number of students are participating in Advanced Placement courses, including Microeconomics and Statistics and the English department providing our newest offering: AP Language and Composition. Our students continue to earn college credits through College Accelerated Program offerings with Burlington County College and Farleigh Dickinson University.

Across the district our staff members participate in ongoing professional development, ranging from graduate school studies to professional memberships and premier professional development provided by our collegiate partners, including Burlington County College, Rutgers University, The College of New Jersey, and Princeton University. Many of our faculty either are pursuing or have earned advanced degrees, including at the doctoral level. Our staff recognizes and models the importance of life-long learning.
