Mansfield Township School District

Report Card Narrative 2016-2017

October 2016

Dear Community Members:

The Mansfield Township School District provides excellent educational programs to our students due to the devotion of its stakeholders: faculty, staff, administration, parents and members of the community. These stakeholders are dedicated and committed to our district's students in providing an educational experience that assists them to grow both academically and socially.

The Mansfield Township School District’s 2016-17 mission is “to provide programs, materials, experiences, and an environment that will insure all students achieve the expectations of the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards (NJCCCS), the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), and the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC). In addition, the district’s mission is to produce ethically and morally responsible students who possess the personal, interpersonal, intellectual, and social/emotional skills, concepts, and understanding that will allow all students to function and live productively in society.”

As you will read in the letters from our building principals, there are many wonderful programs and events in our district to fulfill our mission. Each year district goals are strategically developed by staff, administration and the board of education through collaboration and articulation. The schools’ goals continue to focus on improving student achievement for all students in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. We strive to meet these goals by administering and analyzing data through multiple assessments. This data provides the needed information to monitor student progress, revise curriculum, implement teaching strategies and provide the resources to meet the needs of all students. The district also prides itself in the utilization of technology in alignment with 21st century standards.

Each year the Mansfield Township School District’s Board of Education (BOE) sets goals. They work assiduously to communicate their goals and district initiatives through the use of the district newsletters, press releases, school website articles, presentations, and discussions at monthly BOE meetings. They also attend meetings throughout the community. The BOE is dedicated to making well informed decisions through on-going training. Through the attendance of county and state meetings, conferences and workshops and by participating in presentations at monthly BOE meetings, they stay informed and improve their knowledge and understanding of critical educational issues. The BOE is committed to the achievement of all children.

Our children determine our future and it is imperative we invest our time, effort, and collective resources in educating them. On behalf of the students of the Mansfield Township School District, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the stakeholders for their hard work and support throughout the year.

I hope you will find this report informative.
