Dear Parents,

In an effort to keep parents and community members informed regarding the status of their public schools, the State Department of Education and The Business Roundtable Initiative in New Jersey formulated the New Jersey School Report Card. Attached for your review is the Report Card for the Somerdale Park School. Most of the data compiled by the State is from the 2015-2016 school year (some statistics are also given for the 2013-2014 through 2014-2015 school years) and provides data on our financial status; academic performance; and specific school and staff characteristics. It also gives comparison data as to how our school performs in comparison to the state average.

The Somerdale Board of Education, administration and staff are proud of the programs we offer to our students. We continue to perform well within our demographic (CD) designation in all academic areas; and we continue to focus our curricular initiatives on our writing, math, language arts, and 21st century learning curriculums.

While data on this report card represents important indicators of our school system, it is important to remember too, that many other disciplines offered by our curriculum are essential for a well-rounded educational program. Many programs cannot be measured through test scores and numbers alone. Included among the variety of extra-curricular academic and non-academic programs we offer are remedial reading and math instruction; speech therapy; counseling services; physical therapy; English as a Second Language (ESL), and other related special education services. Additionally, as a member school district of the Sterling Regional Interdistrict, we also participate in various Interdistrict curricular programs.

We believe we provide a comprehensive program that meets the needs of our diverse student population. If you would like to discuss any aspect of this Report Card or our school's educational programs, please feel free to contact me.
