The 15-16 school year proved to be another positive school year in our district. It gave us the opportunity to build on some of the initiatives from last year as well as begin some new ones.

One of the areas that continue to be an emphasis for the district is our outreach to our families and community. The Action Team for Partnership continued to work on the BG Bear Program. This program recognized students good deeds and behaviors. The Star Student Program provides a similar opportunity at the Elementary School. Both were highly successful. Our Home and School Association ran a full range of events that included a Trunk or Treat, Family Fun Nights, and Movie Nights. Our PTA is now established and providing many opportunities for our students

Academically, our students continue to be very successful. In 15-16 we continued at the primary and elementary level our reading initiative, MyOn. This program involves all the teachers in both buildings and allows us to provide a concentrated reading comprehension program for all of our students. Our Middle School students continue to show excellent achievement on the PARCC. We began a new Science program during this school year.

Our chorus and band continue to provide a wonderful experience for the large percentage of students involved. The quality and difficulty of the music that students perform is excellent. We are always impressed by their performances. The Student Government has been very active in community fundraisers and events as has been our Peer Leaders Group. Our students consistently bring praise from outside agencies for their outstanding behavior and excellent participation.

Our district continues to progress because of the hard work of our board of education, administrators, teachers and students. In addition we receive great support from our parents and our community. This combination makes our district a dynamic organization that is constantly looking to help our students achieve at ever higher levels.
