Township of Franklin School District

The Township of Franklin Public School District, covering 56 square miles, is located in the southeast corner of Gloucester County. Our schools have an enrollment of approximately 1425 and service grades K-6 and a Pre-School Disabilities program. The enrollment includes nearly 100 students from the Newfield School District. Franklin Township Public Schools has three schools: the Mary F. Janvier Elementary School houses PSD & Grades K-2; the Main Road Elementary School contains Grades 3 and 4; and Caroline L. Reutter School, provides Grades 5-6.

The district offers regular education and special education inclusion and self-contained programs in all of our schools. We offer related arts programs in music, art, physical education, gifted and talented enrichment, world language and computer literacy within the regular schedule.

During the 2015-2016 school year, the administrators and teachers continued analysis of student achievement data and other district evaluation results to determine effective ways to increase student progress. As a result, teachers utilize many instructional strategies to differentiate instruction including flexible small grouping, Guided Reading, Readers’ Workshop, Writers’ Workshop, authentic applications, formative assessments, DIBELS and DRA2 reading instruments, continuous progress monitoring and academic interventions when warranted.

The Township of Franklin Public School District revised the curriculum to align with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and the New Jersey Model Curriculum and Assessments. During the 2015-2016 school year the district continued to provide instructional programs such as, Wilson Fundations, Waterford Early Literacy Program and Read 180. Personnel supports include Math Coach, English Language Arts Coach, Instructional Technology Coach, School Counselors, Reading Specialists, and Professional Learning Communities. The district implements the use of the Danielson Framework for Teaching as its teacher evaluation instrument. As can be seen, many new and exciting programs have been implemented to help move the teaching and learning in the district ever forward.

We are very proud of our accomplishments, please review the information as presented for each of our schools in the School Performance Report. Further information about our district can be found on the district website at www.franklintwpschools.org
