Franklin Township School District

The Franklin Township School District is a NJ Choice District located in rural Hunterdon County. This one-school district provides a superior pre-kindergarten through 8th grade education for approximately 300 students. The school's preschool integrated program offers a full-time or part-time, 5 days per week, educational program utilizing the "Tools of the Mind" curriculum.

Our overall mission is to “foster excellence” while meeting the needs of students as individual learners. The Franklin Township School District continues to provide a comprehensive and academically challenging school program. The educational program includes integrated language arts literacy (reading, writing, listening, speaking and viewing), mathematics, social studies, Spanish, physical education, health, art, music, band, STEM, computer arts, and elective courses that integrate all academic disciplines, through a multi-disciplinary approach to learning. All students and teachers are provided the latest iPad 3 or chromebook technology access daily. The district offers small class sizes and a lower than average student teacher ratio. More than seventy-five percent of the staff hold advanced degrees, while one-hundred percent of the staff meet the federally established Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) standards.

The Franklin Township School District prides itself in helping students maintain high levels of academic achievement. Students are tested in grades 3-8 via the PARCC standardized test and New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge in Science. Data from PARCC is posted on our website.

Our programs also enable our special education students to benefit from inclusive education practices. Through staff development and planning, teachers develop rich curricula consistent with global perspectives, 21st century networking tools and interdisciplinary linkages for real-world applications.

Students in our middle school are given leadership opportunities which include Student Council, National Junior Honor Society and Safety Patrol in addition to working with our dedicated staff on community service projects and through participation in activities such as holiday food banks, clothing donations, and other community based programs. We emphasize the core values of a character education program while focusing on a safe school environment. The values taught are responsibility, trustworthiness, citizenship, caring, fairness, and respect. Franklin’s caring personnel strive to develop the whole child’s academic, physical and mental well-being.

Our comprehensive guidance program ensures social and emotional growth and our Positive Behavioral Support program is embraced by the entire educational community, thus increasing school safety and enhancing students’ social-behavioral skills while creating a more positive school climate.

The Franklin Township School is considered “a community of caring," that enjoys a close knit, supportive Parent/Teacher Association.
