Frenchtown Borough School District (19-1680)

Frenchtown Borough School District

The Frenchtown Elementary School District provides a full range of educational services, programs, and activities appropriate for students with and without special needs in grades pre-k through 8. Our school is located along the Delaware River in beautiful bucolic Hunterdon County and serves approximately 140 students, both resident and choice. Frenchtown students in grades 9-12 attend Delaware Valley Regional High School along with their classmates from Milford Borough, Alexandria Township, Kingwood Township and Holland Township.

The Frenchtown Elementary School provides an intimate educational environment, and appreciates a strong sense of community and family. Through highly personalized curriculum and small class sizes, Frenchtown Elementary encourages students to achieve their highest academic potential and to become well-rounded citizens.  We recognize that in an increasingly diverse world, they will need a solid foundation in technological skills, the versatility to design their own multi-career futures, and a greater appreciation for and acceptance of cultural diversity.

In an atmosphere of academic rigor, Frenchtown Elementary students acquire the broad knowledge base and analytical skills they will need to function as independent thinkers.  Frenchtown Elementary stresses high academic standards, character development, and integrated, multi-disciplinary teaching approaches.

Through school-wide beliefs and actions, our students are taught to respect themselves, their peers, their community, other cultures, and the natural world in which they live. In these ways, the Frenchtown Elementary School strives to help each student develop intellectually, physically, socially, and ethically.  Our ultimate mission is to produce happy, healthy, creative young adults who grow into life-long learners with a desire to contribute to their society as productive citizens.

In an effort to contain costs, the Frenchtown Elementary School Board of Education prides itself on its commitment to the sharing of professional and educational services. Our Superintendent and School Business Administrator are contracted through the Delaware Valley Regional High School District via shared administrative services agreements. The District also shares transportation, technology, facilities, and child study team services with our high school.

The 2015/2016 school year introduced the new middle school 1:1 iPad initiative and technology partnership with the Delaware Valley Regional High School, much-needed building improvements including the new roof, windows and bathrooms, and continued articulation between our middle school and high school programs. Frenchtown Elementary School successfully piloted a joint project with DVRHS to align content and instructional strategies to assimilate our outgoing 8th graders so they are best prepared to make an even stronger academic transition to their new roles as high school students.

As always, we look forward to continuing our wonderful community partnerships. These creative collaborations and sharing of expertise are critical in providing for educational projects and opportunities that go well beyond the basics. We are most grateful for such friends and benefactors who share their talents in extraordinary ways.
