Founded in 1937, Spring Lake Heights School District continues its tradition of providing students with an excellent, challenging education in a school environment that promotes and cultivates the acquisition of lifelong learning skills. The faculty, support staff, administration, and parents dedicate their time and talents to the school in order to make each student’s educational experience a successful one.

Our staff members have a shared vision setting high expectations for every student and are committed to developing the whole child through our commitment to a Responsive Classroom approach. Teachers strive to be reflective practitioners in order to motivate students, create high student engagement, and connect learning to their daily lives.

The curriculum at Spring Lake Heights School fosters a passion for learning. Instruction promotes literacy in all subjects and lessons incorporate the development of higher order thinking and problem solving skills. Our school has a wide range of curriculum offerings, which provide students with a strong foundation in the core content areas of math, science, language arts, social studies and Spanish. In addition, our middle school students are afforded opportunities to explore unique elective courses such as Architecture, Robotics, Graphic Design, Musical Theatre, and Digital Photography. The overall instructional program centers on developing the knowledge and skills that will prepare our students for life in our global community. Through inquiry based and discovery oriented approaches, the goal is for our students to realize their full potential and make learning experiences meaningful, relevant, and individualized.

Technology integration within the curriculum is an ongoing priority for our district. Our middle school students are provided a 1:1 learning environment where each student has their own Chromebook. Furthermore, our elementary students are provided with a ratio of 2:1 devices ranging from iPads to Chromebooks in their individual classrooms. In addition, we have a fully equipped computer lab, media center with additional computers, classroom Smart Boards or high-definition e-boards, and an enhanced WiFi infrastructure to provide our students the necessary digital tools to foster skills in the use of technology in every content area as they are presented with rigorous, engaging and authentic tasks each day. Finally, our students are able to demonstrate their creativity and innovation within our robotics program.

Students have many opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities both before and after school. The fine arts program includes an Art Club as well as a Gifted and Talented Art class and elementary instrumental and choral program. The Environmental Club and Computer Clubs also provide additional outlets for students. Sports teams include both girls’ and boys’ basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, tennis, track and cheerleading. The Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, Service Club and Kids Care Club are dedicated to community service at the school and throughout the community.

Outstanding parental and community involvement in our school is evidenced by the support offered by the PTA, Educational Foundation and Booster Club. Their commitment to all the children affords us the opportunity to present many programs and events in our school. Class trips, cultural assemblies, book fairs, campus beautification, clubs, sports and technological upgrades are available because of the support of our families and community.

The warmth and pride at Spring Lake Heights School is evidenced by the smiles on the faces of our children, teachers, administrators and parents. Our outstanding students are a true reflection of their families and community, and our district is committed to personifying our motto of Preparation. Pride. Possibilities.
