Barnegat Township School District

Barnegat Township is a growing community bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and the pine barrens of New Jersey. The school district is a Pre-K-12 district with four elementary (K-5) schools, one middle school (6-8), and one high school (9-12) serving approximately 3200 students.

The Barnegat Township Schools are comprehensive and meet a variety of student goals and interests which reflects the diverse needs of our students and families. Our school system boasts academic, social, athletic, and artistic opportunities both through our course offerings as well as our co-curricular activities. Programs are supported by the Board of Education and a dedicated administration and faculty.

The Board of Education consists of nine (9) members. The administration approaches planning and management issues collaboratively, while focusing on the needs of our diverse student population. The district and community embarked collaboratively, developing a Five Year Strategic Plan. The strategic vision drives district goals, board goals and aides in educational and fiscal planning. For the last several years, the Barnegat Township Schools have integrated technology into regular use in our classrooms to support the 21st century learner. Classrooms are equipped with interactive white boards, document cameras, video projectors, Chromebases, and Chromebooks. In addition the district has focused on investigating and implementing cost savings measures such as energy use reduction, an ESIP (Energy Savings Improvement Plan) and solar energy. The Board of Education, Business Office, and administration are fiscally responsible; providing a solid education at an appropriate cost to the local taxpayer.

Almost one-quarter of our staff holds advanced degrees and all of our professional staff are “highly qualified.” Our staff participates in professional development opportunities both within the district and through outside organizations. Faculty members support a strong and diverse curriculum as well as co-curricular programs. The Barnegat Township Schools are compliant with state mandates and curricula are aligned as needed to meet the Common Core Standards. The Barnegat Schools has exceeded the state’s requirements for Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying legislation by successfully implementing parent information nights and programs which support anti-bullying strategies for our students.

A support staff of secretaries and aides, an in-house transportation staff, a full maintenance, grounds and custodial staff and an out-of-district food service staff serve the district with sincere commitment to our programs and students. Faculty, staff, students, community members and Board members all share in the responsibility to nurture and educate our children to prepare them for responsible citizenship and success in life. We are a dedicated, proud community of families who value a balanced education for our Barnegat students.
