Somerville High School is a community that endorses the concept of facilitating a learner-centered environment with an emphasis on preparing students for success in a 21st century global society. We proudly serve a diverse population of approximately 1,200 students from the communities of Somerville and Branchburg.

Our entire school community is “All In” in support of our mission to provide the highest quality education through an environment that promotes individual excellence. We are data centered and data driven in our decision making. In recent years, our Wildly Important Goals (WIG) have focused on data collection regarding student engagement through purpose driven walkthroughs and methods of instructional delivery through the use of applications that promote research, collaboration, and communication using 21st Century Technology. Through our 1:1 Chromebook initiative each student is given a device which serves as an invaluable tool when engaging in real world applications. In addition to our Chromebook initiative, we are proud to offer all students unlimited online course access. These courses serve to provide our students with additional 21st Century learning opportunities. To further enhance our students’ 21st Century skills, our data collection for the 2016-2017 school year is focusing on promoting and guiding social responsibility for the 21st Century Learner. This data will be shared and updated throughout the school year on our district dashboard, which can be found on our website,

In addition to our digital curriculum platform, students are offered a rigorous program of studies that include Advanced Placement, honors, college preparation, and elective courses in all content areas. Furthermore, we are proud of the established partnerships with local community organizations and institutions. Through these partnerships our students are provided with academy opportunities for structured learning and academic enrichment. Our Somerville Academy of Liberal Arts (SALA) in collaboration with Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) allows students to receive both a High School Diploma and an Associate’s Degree. The LaRue Academy is designed for students pursuing a career in the realm of fashion and public relations. The Somerville Medical Sciences Academy in partnership with Robert Wood Johnson Hospital (RWJ), invites our students to explore the world of medical science directly on site at RWJ. Other partnerships such as a Workforce Development program with RVCC and a Young Science Achievers program with AT&T give our students learning experiences beyond the walls of Somerville High School.

Our school community embraces the challenge of providing students with a 21st century skill sets that includes critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity. We are committed to the practice of facilitating a learning community that addresses these challenges while providing sound instruction for students with diverse needs. Somerville High School has established a reputation as one of the finest schools in New Jersey and we are committed to being “All In” for our students in each and every endeavor they choose.
