Phillipsburg School District (41-4100)

Phillipsburg School District

The Phillipsburg School District, accredited by the Middle States Association, is located in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, a town of approximately 15,000 residents, in southwestern Warren County on the Delaware River. An ideal place to live, it is 75 miles west of New York City and 75 miles north of Philadelphia. The town, which is 3.2 square miles, is made up of a diverse citizenry. The community at large is actively involved in the school system. Business leaders, social service agencies, parents, community service organizations, and volunteers partner with our schools in a variety of initiatives.

The district, which is over 100 years old, serviced over 3,800 students during the 2015-2016 school year. The school district is small enough to provide a warm, friendly, personalized system, yet large enough to offer an array of services from Gifted and Talented to Title I Programs in English Language Arts and Mathematics at the elementary level as well as a variety of AP and Dual Enrollment courses at the high school. Students at the high school also have the opportunity to take courses at Warren County Community College. There are many opportunities for students to participate in activities from kindergarten through their senior year of high school, including drama, vocal and instrumental, fitness, service organizations among many others.

The Phillipsburg School District has undergone major transitions in the Summer of 2016. The construction of a state of the art new High School was completed and our students began attending classes in this new facility this September. The High School services not only students from the town of Phillipsburg, but also students from the surrounding municipalities of Alpha, Bloomsburg, Greenwich, Lopatcong, and Pohatcong. The district has been named a Choice District again for the 2016-2017 school year with a limited number of seats available for grade levels 9-12. Students will be accepted within a 30 mile radius of the district.

The completion of the new High School has afforded the opportunity for other facility changes to occur. The Phillipsburg Middle School has been relocated into the former High School. The consolidation of Barber and Freeman schools into one building as well as Andover and Green Street schools also took place this past summer, offering our students facilities for a quality education.
